Some of you may remember that in January, while looking for our German house, I talked to a woman who was pushing a baby carriage in our neighborhood. I was driving through, wondering if there were any little friends for Jack and Luke, and there she was, pushing a pram while a little boy on a balance bike followed closely behind.
As luck would have it, we found each other again about 3 weeks ago, at a neighborhood strassefest (block party). Jana (pronounced Yah-nah) and Martin Mittner have two children – Jakub (Yah-cub) who is a few months younger than Jack, and Anna, who is a couple of months older than Luke. The Mittners are from the Czech Republic, and have lived here about a year and a half. Martin works for Nestle, and Jana, who was an attorney in her homeland, stays home with the kids.

We have seen them every weekend since, and we’re really enjoying each others’ company. They are warm, personable, smart, and we share stories of kids and countries. I am hopeful that our friendship will continue to grow.
Though his parents speak English, Jakub does not. So, it’s somewhat entertaining watching him and Jack. Both of them know a bit of German, but the language thing doesn’t stop them.

Tonight the Mittners came over for dinner, and the boys took turns riding the Power Wheels in the backyard. A good time was had by all.

We hope you have a great week!
Much love.
